I have a 89 4 converted to 8 with a 88 5.0 and computer (mass air).
About 6 months ago I started to get a missfire, stumble and back fire during acceleration throught the intake after the car warms up. When cold it runs perfect.
That went on for about a week and then fuel pump went out.
Changed pump and filter, still there.
Changed coil, wires, plugs, cap, rotor, and ICM on front of dizzy, and retarded timing back to 10deg. the miss got better, but started back firing from exhaust on deceleration, so I changed the entire dizzy. Installed it, wanted to go for a test drive and the new pump went out.
I am new to computer cars and I am lost.
does anyone have any ideas?
