Do you have the stock cable? They stretch with age an cause shifting problems. It helps to have someone in the car when you are underneath or you will have to keep going back and forth under the car. Basically, shift the car into P, loosen up the cable at the trans and pull up the slack and then tighten up the cable at the trans. Go through the gears and make sure you have enough cable to go all the way to 1. It takes sometimes a few times to adjust them right. These shifter are hit or miss. They either work great or work like crap and are sloppy. Often the problem is you either can't get into P or 1, as the cable won't go far enough. Guys have fabbed up a small bracket to attach to the trans lever or clearenced the hole in the trans lever.
B&M has the instructions on their site how to adjust the cable if needed,
I have one in my car and it took me 3 tries to get the adjustment right, as I didn't have a helper.
