Need help With cobra Intake

its not woth the buy in my opnion. save up a little more and get the bbk ssi. more performace return on price compared to the cobra intake

bullcrap, gt40 is great for the money. I got mine out of the JY for less than 100 dollars and for the same price as the SSI you can get a HOlley or Trickflow intake that will be 1000x's more reliable than the BBK.

+1 gt40 great bang for the buck. much better options out there for intakes for the same money over the BBK w/o the issues. do a search on the bbk and not just on this site.

well guys in general its not worth buying the cobra intake for the price and performance return. any other intake like the trickflow, gt40, and ssi are woth the price for performace return over the cobra intake. I'm getting the trickflow intake (because i have trickflow heads)

As far as intakes go, the ssi is the absolute biggest turd in the Fox aftermarket. I'd sooner go with a 'made in taiwan' typhoon.

In addition, anyone who's gotten poor performance from a GT-40 upper and lower on a street car has either installed it improperly, stacked it ontop of a crappy combo, or mismatched the cam and build with the intake.

You do know the cobra and GT40 are very similar and post very similar flow numbers, right? I do mostly street driving and I'll take the better numbers under 5500 rpm than having a few more up top.(PS. I have trickflow heads too. I'm going to have tmoss port the lower intake to match up)

I always thought the cobra intake was only worth it if you ported the thing. which is $$$. I've seen dyno results from swapping a stock intake with the cobra and needless to say there wasnt to much improvement. I have an old cobra intake if anyone is looking for it.

since you are asking ?'s like is the cobra intake a direct bolt on(please do not take this the wrong way) stay far away from the BBK, the BBK is far from direct bolt on. the BBK fans are the few lucky guys who got thiers to work and they do look trick, but if it doesn't it starts to become costly to get right, fuel leaks, etc....again not a first time mod.

yes the cobra is a direct bolt on, for the most part. do a search on the internet at places like mps auto salavge & prestige mustang parts & ebay to try and score a original or older non chinese one. also a search will net some info on casting issues around the distributor relief area not being that great on the chinese(newer ford racing ones) . either way it's still the best bang for the buck intake period.

if you can wait, do some searching and inform yourself about the explorer intake swap, another low cost easy swap that nets gains over the stock intake.

I got my Exploder intake from the junk yard for $45 :D, it's in my basement waiting for me to find an LSC to put it on...:D It took me 2 days to get it...they closed at 5:30, and I'd get there at 4:45...:( I got the upper intake off and had to come back the next day to get the lower...the Exploder intakes go FAST!! I ended up putting the upper under the seat of a burned car...who's going to look at the interior of a burned car?

This, my friends, is the answer. It is my understanding that you can port a Cobra to flow better than a GT40.

If you get a chinese made Cobra, make sure you get a Ford Racing baffle to replace the small one the made in china version comes with.
