i have a 1968 mustang with a 302cid engine and a c4 which is on its way out so i was wondering what do i need for t-5 manuel transmission conversion like where can i buy the parts to every part i need to convert it any help would be appreciated

There are a couple of ways to do it.

They way I did it is to use fox body Mustang clutch kit, fork, and bellhousing, and a California Pony Cars crossmember. The only other think I have to note is that I also used a clutch cable conversion from Ron Morris, but I also hear good things about Mustang Steve.

Another way is to buy the adaptor plate that lets you bolt the T5 to an older toploader bellhousing, which lets you keep the old bellhousing, clutch kit, fork, and linkage setup. You still need the crossmember.

Seems to me that if you already had a 3 or 4 speed in it that the second option would be better, but since you're basically starting from scratch I think you would be better off with going with the first option. It seemed easier to me too, so that's why I went that route. If you're going to have to buy everything anyway you might as well buy the late model stuff and a cable conversion kit.

Plus you can't shake a stick without hitting fox body parts so they are very easy to come by, which is handy if you're on a budget.

Obviously you'll also need a clutch pedal assembly.

Here's some links.

That should get you started.

You can quite easily, for a reasonable price, use the original clutch linkage. Everything you need is available new, and except for the pushrod hole in the firewall, completely bolt-on.

The clutch pedal is available new and used, and you can either replace the brake pedal, or trim it to "manual" size. The pedal bracket can stay in the car.
