i went to my local speedshop to get some eibach pro-kit springs installed today.but they ended up ordering and installing the sportsline springs.i was going to make them switch back my factory springs,but after lokking at the car i am happy with the drop.my question is about the struts and shocks,i know my stockers aint gonna last,but how long will they last.the car only has 4,000 miles.will they hold up for 6 months or so till i have money for new ones.i also know that i'm gonna need cc plates so i'm gonna orer them tommorow.

stock shocks for a year now with my sportlines and no problems but get those cc plates as soon as possible...

cause if you don't get those cc plates soon, you will probably need to get some new tires with those struts 6 months down the road.

I hear ya man (good springs). I got the Eibach Pros and didn't need the cc plates because I got an alignment. However, the Eibach Sport lines drop the vehicle to a point where the factory CC plates can't compensate for the change. So one must dip into ones wallet and invest in some new cc plates.

Get some appropriate length bilsteins (made for '93 foxbody i think), or some tokico illumina 5-way adj., or KYB AGX adj.. You could probably convince the shop to give you a deal on shock/strut install since they installed the wrong ones causing you to have to buy cc plates and the need to install new dampers earlier than expected.04torchredgt said:

bilstien only makes 1 lenghth strut for new stangs. same part # for the fox body as the new stangs. other companies make a 1" shorter version for the fox body.
basically there is alot of myths about CC plates. they are not only for alinement. they alow you ajust the strut mount point to compesate for the lowered car. good ones also have a sperical bearing that will not defelect as much thus maintaining aliment better in a coner. the shocks and struts are engineered a certain lenght. when you lower the car it compresses the struts. now fox body struts of certain brands are 1" shorter. so if lowering you car 1 inch you could buy just those.
now at 2" drop the only way to do it right is CC plates. I dont' understand why people cut this corner. if you just want low cut your springs. it is free. thats what I did to my chevelle in highschool. road like 'Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me''Kiss Me' but it was slammed.
that being said there are tons of people who will chime in and say I am lowered 2 inches on stock shocks and strust. you won't see those people setting in lap records or putting 50k on the clock with those shocks and struts. I am sure they will last 6 months till you can afford the upgrade.

Well I HAD eibach and I disliked the ride VERY much!jeff1414 said:

Um I don't seem to have that bumby problem like you may of had!!
But that is me. My car handles alot that what it did. People like lower drops. looks alot better Imo. but you comment was unnessary for the tread IMO..Quick Q what size are you tires?Similar threads
