I've swapped a 97 explorer motor in my 95 gt. i have put everything new on it and cannot get it to start. Ive put a coil, stator, ign. module, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, even a new timing chain, and it wont start. i know the timing is correct, and it is getting fuel. Im wondering if going from a crank trigger to a distributor is the reason. thanks to any help.

that i think would be your prob. you wound need to swap out the OBD II puter and harness from the exploder or convert the newer motor back to the OBD I harness. I don't know for sure maybe someone else has done this before and can chime in

The DIS to distributor swap has no bearing on it not starting. I'd recommend checking out the Cranks OK, but No Start Checklist for Fuel Injected Mustangs to give you some ideas on what to check.

yes, they are. they have the same firing order as the HO. the only difference, was the harmonic balancer. It had a crank trigger, and i took it off, and replaced it with old balancer.

this may be worthless, but do you have a CEL? maybe pulling the codes will give you a lead?

Yes, i pulled them but the only thing i got was an intake air temp. to high. changed the sensor, and that went bye bye. I think my trans harness might be messed up, going to try that next.
