OK, so I just had a crap load of work done to a 91 coupe. I crawled underneath the car today to see where all the oil or power steering liquid seemed to be coming from (different story) and noticed something weird on the bellhousing.

First of all, at the bottom of the bellhousing and flex plate there seem to be two holes, one on each side, where you could place a bolt to secure it in place. But I have nothing there. I don't remember if I ever did or not.

Second problem, there is a hole in my bellhousing you can see the clutch cable going into it.. and you can see the clutch in there. should there be a plate covering it? i remember seeing one in my tranny before i had all this work done. should there be one or am i mistaken? it seems unsafe to have that whole there because water, rocks or whatever could go in there and damage the clutch up.

pd: i also hear somewhat of a ticking noise coming from the power steering pump. what could be causing this? thanks.

On the first one; I believe there should be a couple of bolts/screws there. I think you are talking about the thin metal cover on the bellhousing.

On the second; yes there should be a cover there. As far as junk getting in there and messing the clutch up, the risk is very low. I personally prefer that it be there. If you have it and the little screw that holds it in place, it only takes a few minutes to put back in place.

Sorry I could answer better on the first one.

you should be able to go to a junk yard and get the cover/bolt and the 2 or 3 1/2 inch bolts that go to that sheetmetal cover
