Need help with vortech install!

Well I get the idiot of the year award doing my Vortech install..

Got everything done with the installation of my kit, took it out for a test drive and everything seems ok until I open the hood and see oil splattered everywhere!

I figured that the only explanation was that I didn't properly tighten down the oil feed fitting to the oil filter mount...since after all that was the only oil line modification that I did that would cause this.

So I proceed to tighten down the 1/4 NPT street tee and all of a sudden it snaps right off!...leaving a broken piece of the threads inside the oil filter mount!

Turns out it was never even that piece to begin with as I'm looking at my stupid mistake I see that the oil feed line has a slit on it and it was leaking from the tube itself. Now I have 2 BIG problems...getting a replacement oil feed line, and getting the dam threads out of my oil filter mount.

What do I do? I tried to get a reverse threaded drill bit in hopes of loosening the piece out, but it's a very tough angle to reach. Can I safely remove the oil filter mount from the engine without damaging anything?

Sorry for the long post, I have no help on this and I don't want to make something so simple get even worse than it has. Thanks!

my novi came with a piece that threaded to the oil pressure sending unit. that is where my oil feed comes from. mine just screws right off.

Yes same with my Vortech, that's actually the piece I ended up breaking off. Now I have the theads wedged inside where the sending unit mounts to.

You will have to get the broken threads out obviously. But they sell those brass fittings at auto part stores and home depots and lowes stores. Or you can order one from Vortech.

If you bought the kit new, call vortech it will be covered under warranty, just say the parts were broken when you tried to install them (true). Then make sure they get the CORRECT part numbers, otherwise they'll end up sending you a oil feed nozzle or some other crap you don't need (happened to me lol ...then I had to bitch at them till they would overnight me the correct parts).

Just have your serial number off the blower ready, the name of your vender, and when you bought it and under what name/address!

Unfortunately I think I'm out of luck, since I bought the kit used from MPH...however the only parts that are used are the head unit and mounting bracket, everything else was new. I might have to call MPH and see what options I have.

well you saved about a grand over a new kit. you have enough to buy a new piece. it will be less than $100

Call Vortech and get new parts. That is how friends have gotten parts for their used Vortech kits. The parts you need are fairly cheap.

Good luck with what you do. Any tips on how to tap the oil pan? I still have to buy my punch and tap set.

Don't be scared off because I'm an idiot. I'd be back on the road finished with the install if I just paid attention and saw the hole in the line before I started to "fix" everything!

Tapping the oil pan wasn't as bad as I thought. Just be patient. Use the center punch. And when you preforate the pan large enough, switch over to the offset punch. Having a friend do this task helps too because you can blame him if he messes up! j/k
