I'm new to this so this might be a dumb question to many of you. But I just bought a 66 mustang no engine or tranny. a week after purchasing the car a guy on craiglist's sold me a 5.0 H0 CHP 188K miles with ecu and harness for 400.00. he also sold me the 92 mustang for 100.00 which I'm trying to use for parts (92 mustang was recked and not much left on there. but I can still use the many parts)

Long story short I want to use the power steering from the 92 mustang on to my 66 mustang. also want to do the conversion from drum to disk brakes. Since I can take all the parts off the 92 for the 66 mustang.

How do I go about this? What do I need to worry about? Do I need any special bracket? will it get in the way when I put the motor in?

Please help as I want to work on this over the weekend.

Thanks in advance

Other than the engine and tranny, not much else can you take from the '92 to bolt onto the '66.

So I cannot use the power steering and do the disc brake conversion?
I just bought this car and towed it home for no reason.

I was going to somehow use the fuel pump (maybe the entire fuel tank and fuel pump off the 92 for the 66. Disc brakes, power steering, rear end, shocks.

If I can not use the parts off the 92 mustangs than how do I get power steering for the 66. Which car can I use for the disc brake conversion, and can I somehow use the fuel pump?

Any suggestion welcomed.

How far do you want to go in your mods to the '66? There are companies out there who have conversion kits to change the entire front suspension to later-model Mustang coil-over-strut type. Fatman Fabrication comes to mind; but (IIRC) they use SN95 and struts. I've heard that their kits are not "complete" requiring you to purchase a lot of OEM stuff - sounds like you already would have that if the Fox-Stang's damages didn't include the front suspension....... I'd be willing to bet that somebody has put Fox suspension under an old Stang. You'd just have to do some searching.

None taken, I'm new to the forum and still trying to find my way around. Searched but couldn't find the info I wanted.

Thanks StangDreamin for the information. I have all the shocks and everything from the 92 but when I looked at both cars parked next to each other I can't just switch parts from one car to the other without making some serious mods. I will search around to see if I can find someway of doing this without spending to much money since that is a issue for me.

Thanks again

I understand not finding what your looking for, I often have a problem trying to figure out how to search for what I'm looking for, usually fail, but some people seem to have a knack for it. I think it involves forms of punctuation and all the symbols on top of the top row of numbers on your keyboard, but I can never figure it out. I hear about Boolean searches and such, I've even tried to search for how to search, but I couldn't find it.....

Like they said, its not all that uncommon to swap the trans and engine, but most of the other stuff does not work. Sorry kinda sucks to get the shaft sometimes.

If you haven't figured it out already. You posted in 'talk'. There is also a 'tech'. It's a better place to post your tech questions and do your searches.
