I might be able to get one... All I know is that it's a 302 (5.0L) block with 351C heads. The engine was rated at only 290hp due to insurance prices but in reality the engine was more like 350hp in stock form. The race version had two 4bbl carbs and produced 450hp. Would this engine be worth it? I'm going to take a look at it next week.

Boss 302 block is the best factory 302 block ever. 4 bolt main, high nickel content. Very strong. Boss 302's are not great street engines. They have soft low end torque. Needs to be rev'd like mad due to the massive intake ports and flow that the heads support.

If it's a real and complete Boss 302, it'd be worth a fair ammount of money to the Concours restoration people.

hmmm so this is tempting... 4 bolt mains! I wonder if the crank is the same size as the regular 302? The engine is 100% complete and has been sitting for a VERY long periode would just need to bore the cylinders, new pistons and rings, get cranked polished and new bearings... voila! New 302 boss hehe Would it bolt up to a T5 bellhousing?

Pretty sure they got a steel crank and also pretty sure they got special Boss 302 specs heads (ie..smaller valves than a Boss 351/4V 351C). I do know for a fact that the '69 and '70 Boss 302 heads have different valve sizes.

I have abook at home with much info about these cars and their engines.

Go to the Classics forum someone their will know everything you want to know.

Yes and no. Mercury's hot Cougar was called the Eliminator in '69 & '70 and it was available with the Boss 302 engine. But it wasn't a special "Boss 302 Cougar" per say. They made very few of them.

Here's a 1969 & a 1970 Eliminator. The fast way to distriguish them is the stripe on the side or the grill.

1969 -

1970 -

No they are not just Cleveland heads. They are specific to the Boss 302.

http://www.boss302.com/heads.htm
http://www.boss351registry.com/BOSS351_part_no.htm

Boss 302 Heads were C9ZE-6090-A or C in '69 or D0ZE-6090-A or B in '70 and the 4V Cleveland heads were D1ZZ-6049-B. They are different.

Yeah if I remember right, I read on the Boss 302 Cougar website that they only made 169 cars.
