Need info on installing 3:73 gears

Have purchased Ford Racing 3:73 gears ($139) and made arrangements for a local shop to install them ($200). My question is will they they need an install kit or new gaskets in addition to the new gears?

It depends on how many miles you've got on your car.
I would get the install kit.
You need spacers for the pinion and the carrier.
I would also get new inner and outer pinion bearings and races.
You do not need any gaskets. For the Differential cover just use RTV silicone.

i bought install kit, guy who put gears in, didn't even open it, said i didn't need it. so i sent it back & got my $ back. depends on installer & wear i guess ?

The kit is only an extra $35.
Now, some gears come with the kit and some are seperate.
The ones here on PartShopper come with the kit.
The ones at Gefracing.com are seperate.
Get the ones at PartShopper and I would also get the 2 pinion bearings and 2 bearing races for peice of mind.
It might not be necessary to change the bearings but it's always nice to
have no regrets after modding your baby.
