hey, i just broke my weak @ss T-5 yesterday :damnit: . Oh well, crap happens. wasnt even beating on it like i usually do, but anyways, to the point, Im lookin at new trannys and kinda like the look of the X2C modded TKO V1.0. Just wondering what all is gonna be required in the swap for that, or if there is a better option, what is it? I'm tired of putting money into crappy T-5's want a very beefy tranny. but thanks for the input.

To put a tremec in you will need shifter, 31 spline slip yoke , 26 spline clutch disk, bellhousing and you will have to mod your trans x-member (cut spot welds on bushing tubes, slide the bushing tubes all the way foward and tack them back in place) or buy one made for a tremec.

Won't the tremec T5 bolt right up? I think the 3550 all you need is a new bellhousing. The TKO and T56 you need all new stuff.

I'm pretty sure that you're correct. A buddy of mine busted his T-5 and replaced it with a 3550. You'd need nothing but a new shifter and possibly a driveshaft built, depending on what year you're putting it in. The '94-'95s require a bit more. The TKO I or II requires a different clutch disc and output yoke, along with the shifter and bellhousing.

A TKO is a 3550, the only difference is the TKO has upgraded steel for stronger gears. The whole TTC name is 3550TKO and 3550TKOII. You will also need a shorter driveshaft, or cut down the one you have. Sometimes you can squeeze it in, but it's a bad idea. There is supposed to be some tollerance at the imput shaft. The TKO's offered by X2C are a whole other animal inside, with a whole other price (@100% more) on the outside. For the same $ you could have a T56. They are for 9 second cars, you probably don't need it. My ordinary TKO is rated for 425 '#TQ, and the new TKO's are good for about 100 more- making them stronger than a Viper spec T56. Even a plain jane 3550 is good for 350 '#TQ. Regardless of what you want, you're on the right track by not wanting the T5. You may want to look into a Liberty T5, way stronger and wallet friendly too, I hear.
