hey everyone - i am having trouble locating some part numbers for the harnesses i'll need to add a cd player to my mach 460 system/head unit. 94GTLaserRC gave me a part number a few days ago but i have yet to find the wiring harness he speaks of...so i am quite stuck. check out my thread in sound and shine @ http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?p=4391344#post4391344 otherwise, leave me a message up here...i'm hoping there must be some 94-95 owner that can help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ran in2 that same problem when I tried adding a cd player 2 my mach 460. Call a dealer and they can call their radio repair vendor and they should know the part numbers for the harnesses you need

I think I have this one figured out, depending on what kind of head unit you have. Few quick questions:
1) Does the head unit have the old style or new style connectors?
(Old is three conectors 2 are squareish/new is two is longer than square)

2) Are you wanting to use the radio and CD player in conjunction?
(use the radio and when you put in a CD, it changes to CD use)

Being as I'm at work right now, I'll try to get pics once I get home to better explain this..

Oh, if anyone's interested - I have a stock Head unit for the 94-95, but does not have inputs for the CD unit. Has the NEW style connectors. Bought it off E-Bay to change my unit that has the buttons rubbing off, but is not compatable. My unit has the CD inputs/CD changer in the bottom slot.

go to wal-mart go to the car audio section and get the kit that says your model car for ford and the year. get the radio pullers for your factory deck they are under 5 dollars. pull that factory deck out , put in the connectors that you bought, wire up the speakers ,wire up the power wires and ground wire, plug in the antannae, push it in the unit, and everything will play. the wires are color coded so you can't go wrong, red to red, blue to blue,white/black, white/black, etc...... . i have a 95 GT as well and i had a 95 V6, so i know what i'm talking about. if you have anymore questions, feel free to PM me!

Cyiberwulf- i would like to use my stock head unit in conjunction with the new cd player, if it all possible. i wish i would have taken some pictures of my stock head unit and the connections on it so i can show you all what i have to work with... i'm sure this set-up is possible, i just don't want to ruin the performance of the Mach 460 in the process. from your description, i think i have the newer stock head unit as you describe it. there are two connections in the back - one gray cable with a small cubish connector that goes to the amp and a long connector that supplies the power/dimmer/etc. other than that the only thing plugged into the stock head unit is the antenna cable. with any luck i'll try to get some pictures tonight for you all.

NYSTANG- thats not a bad idea; if i can't find anything tonight i will try that route tomorrow or wednesday...

chris- looks like i'll go take a look at the wal mart tonight...

so i went back to circuit city tonight and got another harness in exchange for the one i didn't need. i ended up just wiring in my new cd player and ditching the stock cassette player/head unit. everything turned out just fine and IMO, it actually sounds a lot better than it did stock. i just wanted to thank everyone for their help and advice...and the radio removal tool from wal mart worked really well. chrismillion, many thanks for that one. it saved me quite a bit of time over the clothes hangers i used yesterday, haha. once again, thanks everybody!

So you can just wire it up? You don't need that converter/adapter thing with the three adjustable pots???

This is my old radio currently in my car:

If you are parting out with your stock unit, I'd like to get it from you if the buttons are in decent shape so I can replace mine. If anyone has one of these units either not working or don't need anymore, I'd like to get the front buttons....

And here is the one I have forsale / trade:

(excuse the fingerprint marks)

Notice the buttons aren't the same as my old unit and the connections on back, therefore won't work for me. If anyone's interested in this unit, PM me and let me know....
