This past weekend my Autometer monster tach died on the GT - at least I think it did. It has worked fine for a year (bought it with the car, don't know it's age), but now it will work for a little while, then the needle starts bouncing around sporadically (stock tach still works fine). Since buying the car, I've had an MSD 6AL ignition installed. My understanding is that the 6AL comes with an output for the tach, which I would like to use since the old tach wasn't in sync with the rev limiter (6K rev limiter would trigger when 5400 indicated on tach), and the tach certainly isn't plugged into the 6AL (as far as I know).
Any recommendations for my new tach? I want to stick with 5", and I was happy with the Autometer. Will any of their tachs work with the 6AL output? Also, I think the shift light is still OK, so I think I can hang onto it unless it is directly wired into the tach. I know these are naive questions, but I'm just looking for some quick advice, I need to order and install before racing next Sunday.
