I'm considering a brake upgrade on 86-120 and wanted some opninion's from you guy's. The car is getting a restomod done to it and I would like to keep many of the stock part's on the car a possible and leave all of the Saleen part's on it.

These are the option's that I was looking at.

#1 FRONT.........Upgrade to the 11 inch front rotor's with 73mm caliper's and a good pad leaving the car 4 lug and the stock wheel's which I really like.
REAR........... Thunderbird 4 lug disk's in the back with flipped bracket's to maintain the stock axle width and the stock wheel's.

#2 Use the COMPLETE Saleen/SVO 5 lug four wheel disc set up that I have laying around and either.
A. Find a set of the 87-89 mesh wheels and have them refurbished in the same gold color configuration so the car still look's stock
B. Use the Ronal/Saleen 5 spoke wheel's that are currently on my SVO and have them powdercoated a color to match the car.

#3 Live with the crappy stock 10 inch front brake's/drum rear brake's. I managed to warp the brake's in 15 min's on one spirited canyon carving adventure.

I really dont care for option #3. My 2500 dodge ram has better brake's than the Saleen.

Kyle,

Have you looked into Baer Brakes?

I had their 12" on the front and rear of my '89 Saleen, and was able to run the Stock Saleen 16" wheels with them. Yes, they were 5-lug brakes, but they also make a 4-lug set-up as well.

i wouldn't do any of your ideas to be honest.
I'd sell the svo stuff.

Possibly use the front setup mike suggested with the Baer kit, because i think that's the only kit that allows 16's. I've seen this setup in person, it's pretty cool, they actually use stock spindles that have been machined to fit different parts, that's why you have to send the cores back, but i think because your car has older spindles to get your $300 core back, you will need to send them 87+ spindles.

Then i'd use an sn95 rear setup with northracecar brackets to keep the stock track width.
And definetely switch to 5 lug, but paint the ronals either gray or black like they came from saleen.

I was under the impression that the rear SN95 stuff is actually smaller than the SVO and the rotor's are not vented.

SN95= 10 inch non vented rotor. (except cobra)
SVO/Saleen= 11.65 vented with a larger caliper.

The Ronal's have the bigger hub design to clear the stock ford SVO/Lincol/Saleen front rotor. Will this be a problem with the SN95 front brake's.

I already have all of the above mentioned part's including the 87-93 V8 spindle's and a set of SVO spindle's so a core charge wont be a problem.

I'm not sure that hte car fund will allow the purchase of a Bear kit at this time. I already dumped a bunch of money into a fresh rebuild with ported GT40's, E-cam, Perfromer intake, etc etc.

Do you guy's really not like the stock 87-93 Saleen brake's? They are essentially the same as the SVO. I have yet to warp or overheat the SVO's brake's playing in the canyon's. The car's prob wont see any open track event's just alot of canyon carving wiht the local mustang club.

The 87-93 brakes really do suck, my fronts aren't done yet, but will be soon.
I used sn95 cobra rear discs (11.65 vented) on the rear.
I know my real ARE saleen 5 stars (should be the same or like the ronals) will fit on sn95 rear brakes, but will NOT fit on front sn95 brakes.

Trust me,i've been in foxes with baers, fox style and sn95 style, and they make fox brakes feel like they were meant for a go cart.

BTW, sn95 style baers are just Pbr calipers, which can be had cheap on ebay.
