Probably a stupid question, I know, but its not something I wanna do twice and I didn't disassemble the rear end myself, so I never seen it come out. The axle bearings can go in two ways, looking at the bearing it is more square on one side than the other side which is more rounded. Would I be right in assuming the more square side without writing goes in closest to the carrier? Thanks

I asked this exact same question (almost word-for-sord) last year. I didn't get a definitive answer, but the general consensus was that it really doesn't matter. I just picked one side to go inward (don't remember which I chose), and made sure I did it the same on both sides.

yah, thats what I did, the more square side went inward, the writing to the wheel side, should be ok, I like to know for sure that I did things the proper way if no more than for piece of mind.

The rear axle outer bearings are straight roller bearings and should work fine either way. It may be better to put the rounded side in first so that it clears the corner of the seat in the axle tube.

If this is about the carrier bearing, same idea, bit it really should not matter. For some reason, I have not paid attention to this on the axles I have assembled, and they all work fine.
