The power windows on my 88 mustang have been acting funny lately. There is an intermittented short circuit, and it appears I have now found the cause. The problem is that the passanger window is rolled down, and the motor will not move. It appears to be shorted out because I get .9 ohms of resistance accross the motor, and when I directly hotwire the motor, nothing moves and my wiring gets hot to the touch (tried switching the polarity, same thing).
Now, I have to figure out how to get the window up! I really don't need to have anything stolen out of my car (or the car itself), and we are suppose to get showers and t-storms for the next few days. If I can't get the window up by tonight, I will have to leave it in my parents garage 40 miles away and drive the 90 aerostar.

Next time try a 9V batterie and 2 wires

Not sure at all, but it could be a better way than tapping on it

I tried that already, except I used the 12v battery in my car, and confirmed the motor was getting 12v with a voltmeter. The motor needs to be rebuilt it seems.

Another alternative, in a pinch, would be to remove the motor and just push the window up manually. I had to do this for a couple weeks on my 'vert 'til I finally got a working boneyard motor. Originally both windows seized, one just needed rebuilding with new nylon torque pins, the other had to be replaced.
Look up "power window motor repair" on eBay to get the nylon torque pins, I got mine from "Partzway", guy is a good seller.
