Need Some Help!!

So i own a 89 fox. And its been sitting from the owner for 7 years. I got it. Plugged the new tranny. And all of sudden its getting a crazy response on startup. Takes a while and it has a high pitch grumble.. when it does finally start the car stars throbbing. I know close to nothing about cars. And have no one to help me. Im trying to learn on my own. But can anyone help with some ideas

Let's start by mentioning the year and if it's a manual or auto.
Not sure what "plugged" the tranny or throbbing means, but you are leaving yourself open to all kinds of sexual innuendos.

What have you done to get it going so far?

First thing i would have done with a car that sat for 7 years is take the gas tank down and clean it out. Change fuel filter, oil, coolant and tune it up.

Can you give us a little more info? Engine? Transmission? Any mods? Also your description is a little vague. Almost sounds like you are describing a high idle followed by a low idle situation. Can you get a video?
