Need some motor advice

I have a custom Schnieder cam that has been giving me some problems for the last month or so, i have been told that it will be lazy up top but make tons of torque. Also the cam is set up for a non HO firing order so i switched the plug wires but the injectors are still firing the HO firing order. i havent driven the car since i figured out that those cylinders are running lean.

Here are the specs 544/.560 lift and 214/230 duration at .050'' (I dont have the cam sheet handy but thats waht i remember off the top of my head)

Now with those specs what kind of power should this cam make, the previous owner of the motor ran it with a 175 shot on it he also claimed that he revved the motor to 8k but i find that hard to believe with a hydraulic cam.

I am seriously thinking about swapping the cam and getting a set of Twisted Wedge full CNC 185cc heads putting my RPM 2 intake on it and getting rid of my blower because i am not sure about how the CR(9.75:1) will do once forced air enters the chambers. here is the current combo

42# injectors
255 lph in tank pump with an external pump stock lines/rails

Lightning MAF, AFM Power Pipe.

I know its alot of info but any help/suggestions are appreciated
 
what exactly is the question? As for the compression ratio with boost It can be done but it will need to be well tuned. I have read of 10.5 - 11 to 1 ratio cars running boost. About 5 pounds. That being said I wouldn't want to do it. As for the cam I would maybe get a H.O. firing order cam and sell the non h.o. cam.
 
basically the qusetion is whether i should run the combo with boost and the current cam(i can re-pin my injector harness) or swap out the cam and heads and run it N/A.

I know that it is going to come down to my decision but i would just like some different opinions cause im a little bit frustrated with the car right now, if you were in my shoes what would you do is basically the qusetion
 
Im confused here... you have a non-HO cam and you have rearranged the wires for a non-HO firing order....but your injectors are still firing on the HO sequence. I dont think it would be running at all?!?! I see you have a SCT chip so im guessing that for the car to be running at all...the firing order in the computer MUST have been changed? This is an easy change in the computer. Like i said before...if you car was getting spark at the right time but fuel at the completely wrong time...the car just would not run. I think you need to bring it someplace where you can take a look at the tune on that SCT chip. As for the compression ratio...you are still less than 10:1 so you ok up until about 10 pounds of boost. I wouldnt worry about the boost. If you know you are lean however...i would bring it to a shop that can check out the tunes on that chip. good luck man
 
ok let me clear this up, i put the motor together and changed the spark plug wires to the non HO firing order, i didnt even think about the injectors firing at the wrong times until i talked to the guy i bought the motor from, he told me that you can re-pin the injector harness to fire the injectors on the non HO firing order. So its sort of like tricking the computer into firing the non HO firing order.
 
Even if that was possible, i still dont think the car would start without the right injector firing order. So you bought the motor from a guy who built it? What about the SCT chip? Was that already in the car before the new engine? I think you need to figure out whats going on with that chip. I dont think there is going to be a simple injector harness solution for this problem.
 
It is possible to re pin. I guess what you would be doing is pinning to the non H.O. firing order. The thing is with the non H.O. firing order it doesn't make the same power as the H.O. firing order. Something to do with heat issues. Anyways I still think that getting a H.O. custom cam would be a better idea.
 
does anyone else know about these heat issues? i have driven the car a little bit and it runs decent, but i stopped driving it until i get the new harness

Its not like a over heating issue it had to do with firing cylinder order. When you fire cylinders 7 and 8 back to back that park of the block produces more heat. The H.O. firing order makes more power because it eliminated this issue. The chevy guys have been installing custom cams in LT motors for years fixing it firing order getting away from those 2 cylinders firing back to back. They being chevy did away with that firing order with the new LS motors. Basically if you were to label chevy cylinders like the ford the new LS motors would now have the H.O. firing order. It makes more power magizines have proved it. There was one in car craft maybe 6 months ago.
