Need some professional help-heads and cam

I'm dropping a 302 into an 88 4 banger. I got the motor fom an 86 mercury and i would like to get at least a litle power out of it. I'm on a very tight budget cause I'm getting ready to get married so i can't afford the good stuff. I got a buddy with a lunati cam that came with his systemax kit for his musang. I know i gotta change the computer to make it work, but would it be worth messing with. Also i need to know if I'll have cleaance problems with the factory flatops. I thought about E7s or a winsor head. Just let me know what you think. Just remember I'm on a very tight budget. Thanks in advance for all your help!!

hi as for valve clearance e7te heads will hit the pistons i've already done that i would port out the heads you have now and cam it within specs for your tolerance's

The 86 5.0 is the most difficult one of all to get performance out of. The pistons put a very tight limit on what you can do and the heads are very restrictive. There's not a helluva lot you can do with one.
