Need some straight awsers on explorer 8.8 swap

9" are getting harder to find... i got mine out of a 73 we had laying around... 8.8's are for a song now adays.. use a sn or newer and get disc's to boot... True an exploRER is stronger with the 31 splines, but the offset is a bit.. well you know... I also have a early bronco BIG bearing 9" sitting around that would work, but its offset as well...

I haven't done this myself, but someone on here took the 8.8 out of a SN 95 car, cut the existing brackets off and then had new leaf spring pads welded on. I believe Moroso makes weldable leaf mounts that fit these rears, take a look in Jegs or Summit.

Or if you are really hard core build a three link with coils. :nice:

okay here I go, not to sound like an idiot but what are you referencing when you say SN 95? I am interested in doing this exchange as well. so basically if I read this a specific version of the 8.8 with the spring pad move will fit width wise in a 66 with no additional modifications?
