I've got a buddy I chat with on the internet that has an 85GT and we doesn't know too much about it. I know the 87's -92s had 225hp and around 300-315trq stock. 85's made 210fwhp right? The 85 was the last year for carbs...was is a 600cfm holley? What heads did they have? E6? Is the T5 the same in the 85gt's as in my 88gt? Is the cam the same as 87-93's? I aslo know the 85's got true dual exhaust with steel tube headers. any other info would be much appreciated, thanks

The headers are garbage, and the exhaust is NOT a true dual exhaust. 86 was the first year for true dual exhaust.

The rear end is a 7.5 rear, as 86 was the first for the 8.8. Not sure on the carb size or the cam, other than it is the first year for the roller cam, but you have e5 heads, not the lousy swirl heads from 86. The heads on the 85 are very similar to the e7 heads.

85 was the first year for the world class tranny, that's the good news. ALso, that trans will fit any 85-93 mustang, as physically they are all the same. The bad news is that the 85/86 wc trannies are the weakest of all the w/c trannies, but hell, it's still better than a non world class tranny.

Hop on over to four eyed pride and post this question, you'll get more answers than you know what to do with. Good luck!

Where to start??

Yes, the '85 4-bbl carb motor that came if you got a 5-spd was 210HP. If you got an automatic, you got a 180HP CFI 5.0. The carbed motor had a 600cfm holley on it but it's not really that great. Mine is in a landfill somewhere

The t-5 is a WC T-5 but slightly different than the mid-86 and up T-5's. There is no nuetral safety switch. Gear ratios are the same and the '85-89 T-5 could withstand 265 pounds of torque.

The cam from 1985-1988 is the same. It';s the most aggressive factory cam...but that doesn't say much considering it's not really made for power

They had E5 heads. The have a lower compression ratio than E7's but the E7 heads are basically modeled after E5's.

'85's dones really have true duals. They have two stainless headers that flow down and collect into 1 big converter. From there 1 pipe travels and eventually splits into two pipes and then goes into the typical mustang cat-back setup of two mufflers and stainless tailpipes
