Im looking to do minor suspension work to my 96 GT. The shocks are starting to get old so im going to take advantage of this and put in some lower springs.
My biggest problem is budget. Im 17 and still paying for the car(and everything else) so i need to keep cost down as much as possible. The springs im thinking about are made by Ford Racing and are realy cheap. they also lower the car 7/8" in the front and 1/2" in the back (exactly the stance i wanted.) they also keep the ride quality good. Thats important because the car is my daily driver.

What i dont know too much about is shocks.
-Can i use OEM shocks with lower springs? would that make the ride suck? I'd rather not but most sport shocks are pretty expencive.
- suggestions on what springs and shoks to use? (i was also looking at the Steeda springs and i like them...anyone use them?)

any advice, comments, experience?

All Springs are not equal

If that is the stance you are looking for you should be ok. The thing to ask is if they are progressive rate or fixed rate springs. Progressive rate springs (Eibach Pro Series) are stock like firmness for the first half inch of travel or so and firmer there on down. Fixed rate are just that, the same resistance all the way. I had steeda fixed rates on my 98 and found them to harsh and plan on running Ebach Pro's on my 01.
As far as struts www.shox.com is the best price you will find. I have run stock struts with those steedas and they wore out fast due to the changed travel, but they did last me like a year so doing it in stages is the cool way to go. Keep an eye on Ebay to, you can pick up some new GSX'x for like $200. Of coarse we all want Koni, but hey; run what ya brung. Good Luck man.
