Need to fix electrical fire

Hello everyone. I just purchased my first mustang to restore. It is a 1966 6 cyl. The previous owner tried to jump start the car and hooked the cables up backwards. As a result, the black-yellow wire running from the alternator to the starter relay is burnt up. I plan to test the alternator to see if its okay. If so, can I just replace the black-yellow wire and be fine or do I need to look at other areas for damage? I didn't see any other wires that were damaged. Thanks!!

I dont recall the black/yellow going to the starter solenoid. The left side should be off the battery +, the left pin gets the start signal from the key, I forget what the right small pin is for, and the big right lug goes to the starter.

Wire number 37 was the one that melted.

thats right... I had a brain fart or something.

You should be able to replace it and be fine. If you battery and alternator are fine, just check the fuses under the dash.
