Hello everyone

My mustang is currently in the shop being fixed and it needs new axles in the rear. Its actually an 88 Saleen so it has the axles from a Mark VII in the rear end and the ford place mentioned that they were discontinued but were going to try to find some.

Anyways, I was wondering if ya'll had an suggestions on what to do for axles if they cannot find any? The dealership mentioned something about putting spacers on the axles so the bearings would ride at a different point. Is this a good solution?

Or would an aftermarket solution from like moser or something be better?

I don't know a whole lot about it, so any help would be appreciated

Thanks!

It won't be difficult for you to replace those axles at all. Give Moser or Strange axles a call and tell them what you need. They'll likely be able to ship them to you next day. Pricing will be around $275 for the set.

I know they are the same brakes as a Mark 7, but try to use the 84-86 SVO as a vehicle when you shop for axles. The Saleen shares the same brake setup so you might have better luck using the SVO.

ANy of the aftermarket axle companies should be able to help you.

I have NO idea what the dealership is talking about with spacers on the axles? Should have asked them if they would be legally responsible for your costs and injuries when the axle falls off.
