My subject pretty much sums up my question. My oil pump is running about 10 lbs and its only 4000 miles old. I would rather jack the engine up if there is enough clearance to pull pan. Also, anyone know of a very reliable oil pump?
I seen a procedure for this in the Haines Auto Service Manual for our cars. To me it still looked quite difficult. Pulling the engine may take some more bolt turning, but it's a lot more straight forward.
Thats odd it crapped out at 4k??? I got mine at Napa...It was made by Dana...
By the time you jack the motor high enuf to get the pan out, as suggested, it might be just as easy to yank it, but thats still alot of disconnecting stuff, if thats an option.
When I had mine out though, i went right thru it, gasket/seal wise...replaced the rear main, pilot shaft, TO bearing...all that stuff....figured why not do it up at once and be done with it..my rear main was leaking a tad, as well as the oilpan...
depends on your downtime situation...good luck to ya...
