I got a 68 mustang with a 302 with 300 hp. I wore out the stock C-4 since I was less successful at laying off the gas than I had originally planned. I am considering a C-6 Bulletproof or a FMX. Anyone got an opinion?

I have had this car for 18 years and it was just worn out. I ordered an engine and dropped it along with the headers and everything needed to make it run. Engine is chromed out and runs smooth and I am really pleased with it but the transmission is out now. I am not trying to win any races but I want it to be fast. Hey, if it aint fun, whats the point in owning a classic?

I would stay with the C4 trany as there very strong when built up and very light weight. Get yours rebuilt with red clutches and stuff or order one from
TCI starting at $750 for a trany to hold up to 450 hp, thats a good price considering you will pay $1000 or more for a in town trany shop to rebuild yours. I built up my C4 and Im running a blower with a size 13 shoe!!!:rlaugh:

Ok, but I can get a C-6 bulletproof for $715 with up to $200 back for core charge or an FMX for $100 less than that. Money has got to be the big issue for me since I still have a suspension to rebuild, the paint job and interior, wheels...I am just getting started with the mistress I can't afford!

Ok but think of the extra parts you will need to mount those tranys.
I think the crossmember and mount are different as well as the driveline lenth, some more bucks there. and maybe the linkage to, I think I will spend the extra few bucks for a true bolt and drive trany.

The C-6 eats up more of your horsepower, gets worse gas mileage, and is heavier. If you had a 460 then get a C-6, with a 302 a well built C-4 is the MUCH better choice, and more than strong enough.
