well guys i am in need of a clutch my is going out and i dont have a ton of money.i was looking in the jegs mag and saw that they had a heavy duty king cobra clutch kit that would work on my car so i called the jegs place and the salesman stated that even though the HDKB kit is good he too had gotten one for his stang and said it was too heavy of a clutch from his experience for everyday driving in traffic even though the add for the clutch said it was 10% less pedal effort than oem. he recomended the hays street performance clutch kit instead because it was lighter and easier in traffic. the hayes is more expensive then the HDKC clutch but i would have thought that the Ford Racing clutch would be the one to go with . please which one would be better to do???

The king cobra clutch is very heavy! Infact, years ago i put one in my 94' and my leg couldn't bare the pedal. It was like going to the gym everytime I drove that car. I recomend the Centerforce dual friction clutch although it is a little pricey. Very good pedal feel and will support some serious hp.

I have a Spec Stage 1 in my car...probably comparible to the King Cobra...and the pedal effort is just a bit more than stock. No problems in traffic especially with a firewall adjuster.

If your worried about $$ I have a stock clutch you can have for cheap. It's in perfect shape with 30K on it. I have a spec 3+ now and it's got a pretty light pedal so I would think the stage 1 & 2s would work for you if your looking for a new one.
