Neutral safety switch & reverse lights!!

I have a 90 and when I bought it, it was an auto. I blew the tranny so I said what the hell I will convert to a stick. Then I ran into the problem of no reverse lights or neutral safety switch. The stock harness that went to the AOD is still hanging under the car and I tried wiring it to the Tremec 3550. Well, as you might know, the plugs are completly different. So, my question really is who has fixed this problem? It has been this way for about 2 years and the only real down side to the issue is that noone knows when I am backing up. A friend of mine just put his reverse lights on a on/off switch but I would like to have mine done right, know what I mean? Maybe point me in the right direction.

My car had a C4 when i got it but it's originally a 5 speed. When i put my Tremec in i had the same problem...that was about 2 years ago....still no backup lights or neutral safety switch

you don't need a harness...you only need the plug that plugs into or onto the side of the tranny with about a foot of wire.

I'm not sure about the 3550, but for the T5 there's a plug with 2 wires that pushes onto the side of the tranny and that's for the reverse lights.

I merely cut the AOD NSS/Reverse ligth switch off (that round plug with 4 wires to it). Then connected the 2 wires together (for the NSS), and hooked the other 2 wires to the reverse light plug. Good-to-go :nice:

the nuetral safety switch is a different matter mind you. thats what it is in a auto but it is a clutch safety switch in the 5 spd cars. it only allows you to fire car up when the clutch is depressed. After reading this thread i now know why my rear lights are intermittent. The plug doesn't seem to fit my tranny very well. I think it fell off. I'm going to have to crawl under there and bo jam it some how.
