Never Heard of This Before

I was at the local 1/8 mile last night and there was a guy there with a fox body mustang. He had a Zex 50 shot of Nitrous, Full exhaust from the headers back, slicks, and everything else was stock. I went up to him just to talk and check out his car.... and he told me it was a 25th anniversary car that came from the factory with a 306. I have never heard of this before, I don't really think ford would do that but don't know anything about the 25th anniversary. And buy the way, with all that stuff... he was only pulling off 9.1's my 88 gt with a cold air intake and an auto ran 9.3's... what do you guys think?

No such thing. The only thing the 25th anniversary cars got was a $14 dash badge.

A 306 isn't that much of a difference. Maybe 1-2 HP at most. Toss a K&N on and you'll be right there with him.

SOme Mustangs did come with RHO's. Before you jump on me listen first. The R stood for Remanufactured. When someone bought a new 5.0 and trashed the motor, ford would install a RHO in under warranty. It's basically a stock 5.0 bored out to a 306. Then the "blown" motor would be taken and used as a core for the next RHO for the next sap who blew their motor.

There was no official 25th anniversary model. Cars built between April 1989 and April 1990 (I believe those are the months) had emblems on the dash saying "25th anniversary." My 90 LX 5.0 has that...nothing special otherwise; there certainly wasn't a different motor option. If it is a 306, it's been bored out, and there's no way to tell if it's a 302 or a 306 w/ a naked eye anyway, especially if it's bolted up. I think the guy was just seeing what you'd believe and/or what you know.

I don't know much about 1/8 mile times, but I would assume that a 5.0 w/ full exhaust and slicks would be faster than low 9's

Okay... I was just making sure, I didn't want to say anything because I just met him. I didn't want call him out or anything.. but I knew in my head he wasn't all there. He came over later in the night and asked if he could borrow a blow torch to heat his nitrous bottle. But with a 50 shot he should have been running a lot better. I could do that with my stock stang, getting traction.

....a blow torch on the nitrous bottle. Doesn't seem safe to me???

Might as well plumb the mapp gass into the motor!
