It does look like it could use a brace across the top but other than that it looks like a good low-buck solution.
Dude, have a beer, chill out or something. Did ford screw you over a pinto once upon a time? Or are you trying to pick a fight? Let it go already.
No, not the 72 Pinto. Now if you want to talk about the 87 Taurus wagen....they systematically ruined that car. I had over 20 trips to 2 different dealers for warrenty work and you map their course through the car with the work receipts. They worked on the cylinder head...horn would blow when you engaged the cruise control..returned for repair..they said they fixed a damaged wire harness by head..then they tried to charge me 2 hours. They adjusted the idle mix to fix an eratic idle and 6 weeks later the exhaust burned through behinnd the converter..why?..instead of finding the bad vacum line they enriched the mix. They replaced an oil pan gasket and 4 weeks later the water pump was bad..why?...instead of using a new 'o' ring on the pipe they used hard-set Permatex. I got loose in the system and ate the seals in the pump. THAT is just the tip of the icweberg. When I called fords complaint line all I heard was how many cars Foster McKissick and his numerous dealerships moved for Ford. My reply was:
"So, McKissick is more improtant to you as a dealer network than I am as a lifelong customer."
"no sir, I didn't say that."
"But you damn sure IMPLIED it."
I will NEVER spend my money at a FORD dealership again. My wife drives Honda Accords. My youjngest son does the same. My oldest sone drives a C2-220 M-B. They will never buy a Ford after what they did do us on the Taurus. And do YOU know of a better car or one with a better resale value than the Accord? Didn't think so. The only reason I keep the Mustang is because I REALLY like the old ones. I've owned this one for 30 years and just can't seem to part with it.
Of all the cars I've owned over the past 42 years my absolute favorite one would be the 1966 SS-396/375 that I turned into a cast-iron ZL-1 with the ZL-1 rotating assembly and valve train. It ran 11.80's on street tires and 36" ladder bars and 1-850 DOUBLE PUMPER with dual-coil Accel ignition, Hookers and stock intake.
Paid for itself about 5 tiimes over. And you won't like hearing this...most of the money came from 390 cid/428 CJ Ford drivers and 383/440 Chrysler guys.
Sorry. The truth is the truth. I still like old Mustangs. I just know what was happening out there in 1968.
