I like the racing fuel pumps and the missing welds on the cage.

What's funny is I didn't even see his post. Somehow, subconsciously, something was telling me it was irrelevant and I should skip it.

actually it might surprise you to know that ford started using saginaw steering boxes in the late 50's when they got rid of the cam and lever steering gears, and went with the recirculating ball gears.

Didn't know that. But I do know GM used the Ford top-loader 3 speed in all their mid-late 60's cars....even behind the 396, 389, 402, 400 Chevy and Pontiac and 442 Olds.
And that other post about using GM steering boxes....have you ever seen a 64 Ford truck with p/s? Integral, rear steer. Have never been able to find one in a junk yard or parts house. Heard it was what they used when they first put p/s in NASCAR autos. Only saw 1 in my whole life abot 32 years ago. Looked like it would fit a Mustang. Wouldn't THAT be nice.

It does look like it could use a brace across the top but other than that it looks like a good low-buck solution.

Dude, have a beer, chill out or something. Did ford screw you over a pinto once upon a time? Or are you trying to pick a fight? Let it go already.

No, not the 72 Pinto. Now if you want to talk about the 87 Taurus wagen....they systematically ruined that car. I had over 20 trips to 2 different dealers for warrenty work and you map their course through the car with the work receipts. They worked on the cylinder head...horn would blow when you engaged the cruise control..returned for repair..they said they fixed a damaged wire harness by head..then they tried to charge me 2 hours. They adjusted the idle mix to fix an eratic idle and 6 weeks later the exhaust burned through behinnd the converter..why?..instead of finding the bad vacum line they enriched the mix. They replaced an oil pan gasket and 4 weeks later the water pump was bad..why?...instead of using a new 'o' ring on the pipe they used hard-set Permatex. I got loose in the system and ate the seals in the pump. THAT is just the tip of the icweberg. When I called fords complaint line all I heard was how many cars Foster McKissick and his numerous dealerships moved for Ford. My reply was:

"So, McKissick is more improtant to you as a dealer network than I am as a lifelong customer."

"no sir, I didn't say that."

"But you damn sure IMPLIED it."

I will NEVER spend my money at a FORD dealership again. My wife drives Honda Accords. My youjngest son does the same. My oldest sone drives a C2-220 M-B. They will never buy a Ford after what they did do us on the Taurus. And do YOU know of a better car or one with a better resale value than the Accord? Didn't think so. The only reason I keep the Mustang is because I REALLY like the old ones. I've owned this one for 30 years and just can't seem to part with it.

Of all the cars I've owned over the past 42 years my absolute favorite one would be the 1966 SS-396/375 that I turned into a cast-iron ZL-1 with the ZL-1 rotating assembly and valve train. It ran 11.80's on street tires and 36" ladder bars and 1-850 DOUBLE PUMPER with dual-coil Accel ignition, Hookers and stock intake.

Paid for itself about 5 tiimes over. And you won't like hearing this...most of the money came from 390 cid/428 CJ Ford drivers and 383/440 Chrysler guys.

Sorry. The truth is the truth. I still like old Mustangs. I just know what was happening out there in 1968.

Why do you turn every thread you post in, into a Ford sucks pissing contest? This isn't the "Ford Debate Forum". If you have nothing relevant to contribute to the thread topic, Don't.

Because FoMoCo does not give a damn about their customers. Of which I was one for 25 years. No more.

+ your experience

That explains a lot.

I had a friend who had a similar experience with a GM dealership over his new chevy pickup back in the mid 80s. He had to go above the regional manager to get the problems resolved after several letters to GM HQ. What you have to realize is all auto dealers are just like politicians, always after your buck. And trying to get anything done takes an act from congress. I worked at a pontiac dealer a while back and I can tell you from 1st hand experience the dollar is priority 1. They'll screw their employees just as quick as a customer. Its all of them not just ford. Having said that, you might consider checking your bias at the door before posting in the tech forum. Your experience and knowledge is just as valuable as everyone else's here. Rant all you want in the talk forum. That's your freedom.

BTW, I had a 87 Taurus wagon. It was a good car, not the best I've had and far from the worst. 144K mi.

So, it still has no relevance to the thread. If you want to whine, start a thread about it in the talk section. That's why we have a talk section. Note that each thread has a "Topic".

Lets get off the off topic talk and talk more about the structural reinforcements on that 71+ Mustang.

Ended at $1025.99. No love for the 71-73 fastbacks is there? They need to rice one out and put it in a movie, then everyone will be scrambling to get one.

The rollcage rust makes it look like it sat outside for years. Imagine how rusty it might be inside the frame rails where the sfc/cage go into.

There's no love for half-assed projects of any kind, not just big body Mustangs. I'd take a big body sportsroof if the price was right.

Did you see the mickied floor patch on the driver's side? Heck yeah it was a rust bucket.

Ditto. Right back at ya.
- - - - - - - - - -

It would be quite a custom fabrication excersize to fit all the body panels back on.

The seller would generate a lot more interest if he filled in those flaired rear wheel wells with slicks.
