i just bought an 08 black 5spd gt and i already installed the k&n intake and magnaflow magna pack cat back system, and i also have the magna flow off road x pipe on order .i have two questions will the off road x set off an mil, and two will i see a big difference with a tune. any in put would be great!

from another thread, MIL eliminators will not work with 07+ like they did with 05/06 mustangs. you will need a tune for the O/O X since you wont have cats. at the very least they will need to turn off the rear O2 sensors to prevent the CEL.

a tune is the #1 mod any S197 stang owner should do. it will add 25+ hp, get rid of throttle lag, improve shifts on automatic transmissions, and put a huge :D on your face.

You said you just got it but it looks like you have gotten off to a pretty good start. How are you running a 150 shot of nitrous with no tune though?

You are off to a decent start! Gears and suspension are also good places to spend mod money. I have 4.10s in mine and it definitely helped acceleration and I can still hit 120+ which is by far good enough for me! It hasn't hurt daily driving at all as I still manage at least 19-20 MPG. The stock suspension is adequate, but depending on what you want to do there are many ways to upgrade. Many appearance mods from mild to wild depending on your personal taste. Learn to use the search thread function in both the tech and talk forums and you will spend days reading... Good luck and we're here to help:nice:

I would replace the K&N filter with a dryflow from AEM on your intake. K&N filters let too much dirt through, the AEM filters alot better and it doesn't require oil, ford mafs don't like oil. I have seen alot of independant testing of air filters on the off/road forums, K&N gets very low marks on thier filtering ability, there the best flowing, but there's a price to be paid for all that flow, "dirt". I had the 77 series K&N intake on my ranger 4x4 with the AEM dryflow cone filter, worked great. AEM makes filters that fit other intakes besides thier own. The reason I didn't just use the AEM intake was that they didn't have one to fit my truck at the time as they do now.

thanks for all the help guys but i have had a couple of weeks with the intake and exhaust on except the x pipe hasn't been installed yet. honestly i don't know if its cause i need to tune this car or what but the car has become a pig and its is just chewing up gas i went from 16-17mpg to 13.5-13.7 mpg and some times its slower than others. please help!
