www.media.ford.com and do a search on "Duratec 35". There is pleanty of info there direct from Ford. If you're good at searching find the "Lima News", which is the local newspaper in Lima OH where the Duratec 35 will be built. They had a lot of info. on it too. You could also search "Automotive News" & "Detroit News" articles. Both newspapers had lots of info on the Duratec 35 announcement.
Here are the basics.
New Duratec engine family based on the Duratec 3.0, but with lots of improvements.
Displacement capability from 2.5 to 4.2 L.
First production version to be 3.5L - hence Duratec 35
Variable Valve timing.
Dual overhead cam, 4 valves per cyl.
Aluminum block (deep skirt 60 degree V) and aluminum heads.
Specifically designed to improve low end torque over current 4V designs.
Designed to be used in FWD / RWD & AWD vehicles.
The only version officially announced is an 87 octane version with 250 HP / 250 lb ft estimated.
Rumored 91 Octane version for Lincoln to fillow with 270 HP.
No detailed specifications have been released, ie. bore size, stroke, comprssion ratio, cam & valve specs, etc.
Production start end of calander year 2006 so the first models to see it will be 2007 MY vehicles.
Current planned production capacity 325,000 engnes / year.
No firm plans to use it in the Mustang.
Rumored to be slated for use in the 500 / Freestyle / Futura and the Lincoln & Mercury versions of those vehicles.
