Hey guys, this has really stumped me. I'm ready to fire my new engine and I can't get my MSD 6AL to give power. I have 12 volts going to the box from the switch, but nothing comes out!! Nothing is getting to the coil power wires. Shouldn't I get some voltage to the hot side of the coil?? I have double checked all my grounds/connections, and this is the 2nd MSD I've tried!!!! I'm using it with an older Duraspark dist. with a new module, and new coil, etc. Please help.... Thanx in advance!!

do you mean a new module inside the dist. or the external box?
with the msd you don't need to use the extra external box, and you don't use all of the duraspark distrib wires.

i'm running msd with my set up along with the duraspark distrib so let me know if you want me to double check your wiring with mine.

I just have the internal module....Hmmm. I just have the red wire from switch to small red on the box, the heavy red and black to battery, purple and green (I think) going to dist (black dist wire not used), and the two wires from the box to the + and - sides of coil. I'm not using the white wire, isn't that correct??

It sounds like you have it hooked up right .....make sure the white wire isnt grounding to anything, if the wire is grounded, the coil won't fire.

Thick red = hot source
Thick black = GOOD GROUND
White = not used
Thin red = ignition switch. I wired mine to the small left post on the starter solenoid
Black/Orange = Coil -/+
Purple/Green = Distributor

How are you checking for spark??
