I came to the forums over a year ago with issues on my charging system. Basically everyone just wanted to tell me to upgrade when I had a gut feeling the advice was wrong. Well it was. The car sat for over a year till I could scrounge the money together to get the 100 amp 3G and I also bought the better wire kit with fuse holder on it. Wanted it done rite. Only its still not rite.
So like I said over a year ago. Its not the alt. I guess they have two stages of charge and a wire tells the second stage to kick in. This is not working. I tried the stock 65amp, the 80 amp from my truck and now the 100 amp. It makes sense that they are all just putting out half the charge they should be.
Here is the symptoms. Car on, radio on, lights on, AC on. The car would die. Now with the 3G it stays running but the volts drop to 12.5 or less with all that on at once.
What is this wire that tells the second stage to kick on? If you show me a schematic I am going to lose my mind. Component arrangement is not my strong suit when going off a schematic. Just need to know where it starts and where it ends along with the color of the wire. Might be able to get it then. I can pull it and still drive the car at least since I am sure the parts counter will not have it. Thanks.
