I have a 98 GT and want to go from the stock 225hp to the current GT's 260hp at least (more would be awesome). I'm low on money and new to the
the whole aftermarket ticket. Anyone who has any suggestions please write me and I'd be happy to take all advice. Also any suggestions overall for aftermarket parts is welcome.

P.S It's a ragtop, I wasn't sure if that made much of a difference.

the PI headswap would put you right at the 260hp of the 99+ GT and possibly a few more than that due to the higher compression ratio that you will have. Changing out the heads will make all other mods you do to your car that much more of an inprovement

While I appreciate your response, I said I was new to the whole car thing and need a little more info on your suggestion. Like what you mean, how much it cost, or how to go about it ? Fill me in man.

A PI headswap would be not necessarily the easiest but it would get you the horsepower of the newer stock GT's, however it isn't really cheap either. I would suggest to just spend your money on sound and looks if you dont have a lot. Once you get it lookin hot and soundin good then back it up with HP. I would do exhaust system from cats to tips and then do induction mods. And then when you have the money go PI headswap

They might not boost your horsepower any, but gears will give you the biggest SOTP gain for the dollar. It's best to let a shop do it and most jobs end up costing around $500 parts included.

Sorry about not being specific enough. There are companies that offer PI headswap kits out there now so this is done with regularity using 99+ heads and intake. Without going into great detail a search would reveal a TON of information on this and would tell you everthing you want to know but I will say this. It's not expensive as the intakes can be found for $100 almost daily in the classifieds. The heads are the bulk of the money (& labor if you can't do it yourself) so you'll have to do some searching there or you can pick up a copy of 5.0 & Super Fords or MMFF and contact one of the many advertisers that offer a kit so you don't have to piece it together.

Another option is to simply bolt a supercharger on. Vortech makes a great kit for your car.

You seem to be clear on wanting to go fast instead of just looking fast like someone else said so this would be a good start.

That sounds a bit ricer-ish if you ask me. Don't give him advice like that. I would go rear-end gears or a headswap if you want some noticable mods. Intake plenum and TB are also pretty decent for the money.

AUTHOR: Aren't you the guy that wants to swap a rotary motor into your GT??? If you don't have money then doing such a thing would be the worst move you could make. A lot more money than a headswap....

I'd go with PI Heads also. They have them at Sean Hyland Motorsport (SHM).
