I used the bolts that came with the headers. I will second the retorquing of the bolts every couple days for a few weeks. Don't use the crappy paper style gaskets that came with the headers. Get some stock replacements with the metal mesh on one side.

Yeah, they should come with some. I ended up using ARP Stainless bolts but you don't have to go that route of course.

Any bolt will back out if it is not secured some how as the heat/cool
heat/cool over and over again cycling allows them to loosen

Its important is to use ALL the threads possible

You measure the depth of the hole, the thickness of the flange,
and the thickness of the locking device. Add them all together
and find a bolt about 1/8 of an inch shorter to prevent the bolt
from bottoming out.

Look at the pic and notice the left washer is a normal split or
lock washer and is not to be used but it gives a good reference
to help and explain this application.

See the center washer is more thin and it will fit in tight places
found in this application better than the left washer. It is
stainless steel which makes it more durable to the high heat.

The star washer on the right is also very effective for what we
are trying to do here as well.

This simple method has worked for me for decades and its one
of those rare hot rod mods that can be done for pennies

btw ... I put my combo together in Dec 2002 with this simple
method and had no bolts back out

I'm still using the same original header gasket to this day
