Has anyone tried this intake I'm in the process of buying an intake and this one seems to be very good but my question is that I never see anyone with one or ever really hear about it. My car has a few bolt on's know and will be a 331 in the next few weeks will this be a good intake for a street car now and when I build my 331 will it also work well?

thanks

I hear it is a good intake, you should buy whatever intake goes w/ your h/c combo best - the BBK intake is really cool looking - I bet it would be good w/ alot of h/c setups - go for it, its sweet lookin

5.0 Mustang did a test back in Dec. '04 on a 93 with a 306 with Edelbrock heads and a stock cam and it flowed about the same as the stocker until about 3800 rpm. then it just leaves the stocker. they went to 5350 rpm and the stocker made 215 torque and 219 hp and the ssi made 255 torque and 260 hp.

Jurys still out, I do however like that you can take the valve covers off with it on there.

I read the 5.0 article where they tested it on a 306 and then again on a 347.
Both engines had decent aftermarket street parts.

On the 306 it made erratic power below 4K and didn't quite deliver above 4K compared to the other usual suspects.

On the 347 however it performed really well ... they concluded the intake needs a powerplant that creates more cubic volume to charge the high flowing intakes ports with velocity.
They said it is a little top heavy on power production like a few other name brands for a daily driver ... they would recommend getting the GT-40 or something similar if the r's spend a lot of time in the low and mid range.

From my own observation though ... I don't like the 90* corners on the ports ... I wonder how well they match an aluminum SBF head port ...
IMO they should have put a radius on the corners of the ports
