My smog pump locked up on me so i need to replace it or bybass it. Does anybody make a bybass kit for that? Or does anybody know what size belt to get to go around the smog pump? How much is a new pump? Do I even need this pump? Would I pass emissions without it?

You wont pass a visual inspection without it.

The kits are about 60 bucks it seems (I havent actively priced them though). Some guys do run a short belt, but it seems to be pretty finicky about the exact belt circumference.

Good luck.

FWIW...I had mine seize on me...Being the cheapskate I am, I decided to take it apart and see why, as it was just sitting around and seized....Anyway it fairly easy to disassemble...There's 4 plastic wipers that act as the air pump mechanism...I found all kinds of crud on the walls, oxidation actually....Cleaned all that crud off, cleaned up the wipers, douched it with WD40...put it back together and it ran the balls again...
Worth a shot if your into that kinda stuff....

Remove the front bolts to get the pulley off....I think there screws behind that to undo the case to get at the guts...It was awhile ago, but fairly straight forward to disassy/reassy...might just save your self a few bucks !!!

I did the same as Andy, although I went in from the back of the unit. In my case, I didnt get as lucky (it was clean as a whistle in there - I was losing a bearing so it was noisy as the vanes hit one wall).

Andy is right-on about it being pretty easy to open it up and take a looksie.

Good luck.
