Alright some of you might know some might not. My dads 1991 in the sig is a basic combo nothing really special. Stock bottem end, stock cam (4 degrees retarded), GT40Ps (52cc angle mill, valve job, 1.7 rockers), Cobra intake, 70mm TB, 75mm MAF, pulleys, headers, prochamber, catback, all the suspension mods, 4.30s, spool etc...

We took the car to Etown today to be disappointed when they said due to huge headwinds they were only running 1/8 mile. Pissed off we grabbed some old slips and found out, 7.70 is around 12.00. Knowing this I took the car out for some passes as well as my dad in his class. I was pleased with the results...

7.481 @ 90.33 with a 1.59 60'.

Also nabbed a 1.567 60' on a 7.49 pass later in the day! All in all it DIDNT run 11s, but when you do some fast not accurate math it comes out to an 11.7 or so. Not bad for a glorified explorer motor.

Oh yeah I should have a video here within the next day or two!

Wow, noone cares about a GT40P, stock cammed motor running mid 7s in the 1/8th. Oh well, it was a fun day and the car seems to run hard for the little bit of work we have into it!

Air helped, wind hurt. 20-30 mph head wind, and although it doesnt hurt 1/8 as much as 1/4 it still doesnt help anything.

Im surprised by the 60's. Previous best was a 1.601, new best is a 1.567.

Like said before, should have a vid today or tomorrow!

And some vids...

My 7.481 is right here:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v360/65ponchoboy/?action=view&current=115_1526.flv

My brothers best run too bad a leaf knocked out the sensor and he didnt get his time. (caution there is some profanity from me being pissed at the leaves):
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v360/65ponchoboy/?action=view&current=115_1572.flv

First round Elminations for me. Spun HARD on that run and ran a junk 7.63 but still got the win light because of the R/T:
http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v360/65ponchoboy/?action=view&current=116_1609.flv

Brother getting knocked out of competition. His first two runs were messed up by leaves and we had NO idea what to dial in. Put an 8.8 and he ran an 8.9 but launched sucked and his light was less than steller. Hes getting the hang of racing seeing as this was his 2nd time, hes doing alright!

Nice times. How do I set a rev limiter, I don't have on and I have pegged 7k a few times on accident.

Thats actually a 2-step we wired in the car. As far as hitting 7000, your not hitting that. A stock 5.0 has a fuel cut off at 6250 and although you could see higher, the only way to hit 7000 RPM is to hit a lower gear and force the motor to spin that high.

The two step is great for reaction times, especially on a pro tree (although that day I ran a full tree). You can also put an extender on the car or an MSD and put a 6200-6300 pill in for the limiter and have a timing cut instead of fuel if your worried.

Our friend likes to do weird things with the Camera, I can assure you the 06 is real. And that is NOT my car. My car is in pieces for paint, but I ran my dads car in the 5-speed Gear Jammers class, and he ran his in the 12.00 bracket (they made it 7.70 for the 1/8th). Needless to say he got second place because he had to brake light race which sucks when your car has the dial covered by 2+ tenths!

All in all better day than expected and promising for the 91. Should have some 11.7s next year unless we drop a lower gear and a shot on it, then its 10s or nothing!

Insane times What's the suspension setup if you don't mind me asking your secrets?

grey5.0beast-you probably do have the stock rev limiter, but the stock tachs are rediculously inaccurate at high rpm. Mine seems pretty close up until about 5500 rpm, then after that it shoots to 7k like nothing if I'm doing a burnout or something, but the rev limiter is there. It's pretty hard to find with a stock engine unless you miss a shift and forget to lift for about 5 secs.

Suspension is pretty simple...

Front: Strange Struts, no sway bar, cut Drag Launch springs

Rear: Weight Jacker LCAs, Double Adjustable UCAs, Stock springs, air bag, 50/50 Lakewoods

The car is a solid low 1.60 60' car with a decent track. Got a few 1.5xs yesterday with the best being the 1.567. I over revved the car before 3rd (didnt see the shift light with the sun behind it) and thats why it went 7.49 instead of faster with the better 60'.

Stock Limiter is there. I have been off it in my 89 on launches but have never looked at the stock tach to see what it reads. My guess is it would be over 7000 RPM as it isnt that accurate at higher RPMS.

What brand lower control arms does the car have? I know they make like 3 different brands of the same "weight jacker" arm. Just wondering which brand thats on the car.
