New brakes now brake pedal hard as a rock.

I installed the big brake kit for 4 lug from 50resto.com. Now it seems like there is no power brakes. This kit comes with master cyl., bigger calipers, rotors and brake lines and pads. The instructions said something about I may need to adjust the length of the power booster shaft, but will that make the brakes harder/ softer? Heres a pic of the kit.

Did you get all of the air out of the lines / calipers prior to testing the system? Did you bench bleed the new master cylinder?

There is a method to adjust the booster rod that is tied to the brake pedal. I haven't swapped brakes (yet) so I can't tell you how to do this part.

I bled the fronts really well and bench bled the m/c, but I had a little trouble with the back. I broke one of the wheel cylinder bleaders and have to replace it now. So their probubly is a little air in the back. Their is no spoungyness to the pedal like I would expect though.

You should adjust it so that the rod is just making contact with the master cylinder bore.

Agreed. Have you drive it? I bet the brakes drag.

OUCH! $600 for the kit...
I just looked at the kit. It is the 73 MM Lincoln calipers ($17 each reman exchange), SVO Mustang master cylinder ($40 reman exchange) and two rotors (stock rotors $42 each) and some pads and hoses. Baer slotted rotors are like $224 for a set of two. Some careful shopping at AutoZone would have gotten you the same thing for less than 1/2 price.

Look on maximum motorsports website as they show the procedure for measuring and adjusting the rod. It sounds more like you might need a 93 Cobra or SN95 Booster.

What was wrong with the old brakes? Seems like a waste of money to me. Had my car for 11 years and have never once had a problem with the brakes. JMO though.

Yeah the kit wasn't all that I expected, this was my wifes car. I did the same thing on my car except I used that link and purchased the calipers at my work (Advance Auto) got drilled/ slotted rotors off ebay and Maximum Motorsports brake lines, used EBC green pads and some misc other stuff it came to over $700. So I thought I'd save money with the kit, but it was a dissapointment. Her stock rotors were warped and pads shot the new pads that are suposed to be "high performance" look like our cheapo brand no shims and paint peeling off. amnit:

I fixed the problem, I guess there must have been air in the line. I ended up replacing all the rear brakes today there was a leaky wheel cyl. and I got the rears bled alot better and it stops great now.
