Hello, I am in need of some input about brakes: I need new brakes but I want to do it for as little money as possible because of a tight budget (im replacing tires also) but I also dont want to sacrafice reliability. I plan on doing the Mach 1 brake upgrade when I can save an extra $700 but in the mean time I need new pads and rotors up front. Any good kits out there? One caught my eye from PowerStop, it includes pads and cross drilled slotted rotors for $158.00. Anything come to mind? Thanks.

If your liking that kit, look up seller BrakeMotive on eBay. They sell kits from Powerstop for much cheaper than AA. I, in fact just ordered a kit that contains just slotted rotors (drilled rotors have me weary, I do not want my rotors to crack, period.) I will pair them up with Hawk HPS pads. I am currently running an old kit from them too. Except I went with a harder autocross pad that wears out the rotors quick.

Also, watch classifieds for used Cobra calipers. They are much cheaper than buying a kit from a vendor too, then you can just call up BrakeMotive for another kit to match your Cobra fronts with GT rears for a really good and cheap price!

I bought a full set of Power stop drilled/slotted rotors for under $170. Pretty cheap upgrade from stock.

Thank you for the replies, and I will probably be purchasing the kit from ebay asap. In your opinions, would you trust a pair of cobra or mach 1 used brake kits? With something as important as brakes why not spend the $700 for all new parts? I know there isnt a very big market for Mustang parts when i am located now, so anything used that i would get would be purchased online where i wouldnt be able to inspect it. After driving my friend's cobra i gotta have those brakes

I would never use used pads or rotors. I would use the calipers though.

Buy the used calipers, and go to napa and buy the pads and such. Save the money. The napa pads will still stop 10x better than the Gt set up.

+1 on not using used pads. You can measure and inspect rotors and reuse if they fall within tolerance. Don't skimp on the brakes though - you will need to stop sooner or later!
It is a car if it will do 3 equally important things - whoa, go and turn. Take any one of those 3 away and it becomes yard art.
