Well right now i have a 2000 mustang gt with 25k on it. I was thinking about selling my gt and buying a 03-04 cobra. Its gonna cost me about 10-12k to upgrade to a cobra. Would it be cheaper for me to upgrade my gt or should i just go out and buy the cobra. I want to put down 550-600 rwhp. I know the cobra can do that with no problem but what would i take for me to get my gt to put down power like that. I know i would need a new tranny, heads, cams, intake, forged internals, and ???. Thanks for the respones.

You can make that power with what you've got. A Kenne Bell, l/t headers, and all the things that you mentioned will make serious power. Of course you'll get all kinds of responses for the Cobra and some say keep the GT. It's up to what you want.

get the cobra thats what id do. You have one of the best starting platforms IMO with the cobras forged internals and they can easily be modded for a lot of hp.

Cobras also have the very nice suede interior with the gauges and the looks are great too.

And you get the added benefit of driving an SVT car with snake badges. and the terminators look to me like they might become one of the rare and wanted cars that ever came from ford.

Im all in favor of building up GTs to kill cobras, but in your case since you want just about everything a Cobra has I'd say buy one. They look sexy and already quick. Plus for the price of all the stuff you wanna do it make sense to just buy a 03-04 Cobra. Just my .02

The Cobras are a grat car but you also need to look at insurance on the car.

You could easly get 550+ with just porting the blower, new pully, tb/plenum, full exhaust, cai intake, and a nice tune. One thing I would look at upgrading right away if I got a Cobra would be the rearend. Id go staight to solid axle.

Ok +10K for the cobra.
+ 3500 for the KB
Then you need alot of other things.

You will spend around 15000 if you upgrade to the cobra and put down 600RWHP.

Forged motor for GT= 3500
HP twin turbo kit= 7500
Blower cams and springs= 800
Then other things like dual cobra pump setup with BAP.

Everything else (like injectors and maf and clutch) would have to be upgraded on both cars.

You would come out a bit cheaper by turboing the GT, and you could make more power....definatly over 600RWHP on pump gas and alot more torque .

So whatever route you want to take.
