I just upgraded, I had a 95 v6, I just bought a 1995 Mustang GT, Its black with tan leather interior. Fully loaded, 5 speed. Original Owner, 29k miles, never seen rain, snow, or salted roads. Its completed stock, no mods never run really hard. What should I get to wake this bad boy up? And what exhaust sounds the best?

2 chamber flowmaster cat back, plus an offroad h-pipe. Bump your timing to around, 14 adv. Remove the air horn on the airbox. Now, get 3:73 gears as your first mod, trust me youll love em. Then move on to an intake manifold., edlebrook, trick flow etc

Fisrt off, change your name :D Second, dont get flows :chair: Get a straight through type muffler and don't bother with the flowbastards. For exhaust get some long tube headers, o/r mid pipe, and a mac catback seems popular.

For free mods, advance your timing to 14*, remove rubber air silencer. Gears would be one of the first major mods I would do. I waited until after I had heads, cam, intake, exhaust before I did gears and man there was a big difference. I couldnt get traction anywhere.

Nice find first of all, now the fun starts like GreenMustangGt said the 3.73 first that was my first mod and wow what a diffrence it made getting the car off the line. An off road H or X with some long tube headers if $$$ is not a prob. From what the majority say underdrive pullies are great as well. That will be my next mod when $$ comes in. Let the fun begine :)

2 chamber flows should be the first thing. besides an advertised gain of 9-12 percent hp over stock, the sound alone makes it feel like a whole new car. after that, I would get a short throw shifter. Then either 373s or an o/r X, depending whats more important for you, show or go. then the sky's the limit.

NO FLOWMASTERS PLLEEAASSSEEE!!!! LOL. I don't think Flowmaster cat backs aren't stainless steel. Get straight thru mufflers like 1105 said. I got Magnaflows and omg what a sound!!! Deep, powerful tone.

But do gears first.
Then some Underdrive Pullies.
Then get an off road h or x pipe (keep the stocker for emissions). If you can afford it, longtubes give more power than shorty headers.
Then get a catback exhaust system (Magnaflow is really really good IMO)
Oh, and get a K & N Filter and remove the air silencer (rubber snorkel piece attached to the airbox).
That's a good start.

Yeah don't get flows. They suck. I had 3 chamber before my bassani. I hated them. The rust really bad. As for mods. I would do long tubes, MAC prochamber and MAC, bassani or a lot of people really like the spintech mufflers. You can make you own catback, I bought my bassani mufflers for like $92 a piece and then got MAC flow tubes for $50 and then just got some 3" chrome tips welded on my stock tails. And I would get 3:73 gears. Gears are a must. Then you could make your own cold air. It cost like $20 to make from Home Depot. Pullies are a cheap mod too. They are like $100. And if you like what you have done and want to keep going then you can get more serious with heads, cam, intake and injectors.

I like my Flowmasters; they're almost a classic for stangs. I have the two chamber American Thunder cat-back with stainless tips; this was the second mod I did. I will soon have shorty headers with a magnaflow catted X-pipe and can't wait to hear it. If you have a V8 stang then you GOTTA have the sound. If I were you I would do the free mods, cat-back exhaust and then the gears.

It you want it really loud, when you get new mufflers take the tails off. I don't recommend this because of the loud drone. Long tubes, Dr gas xpipe or MAC prochamber and SLP or bassani catback would be loud and sound good.
werd
No tailpipes does make it loud, but it lacks the sound quality and gives you a really bad drone. I prefer quieter tailpipes with a distinct tone than no tailpipes and just noise :nice:

Come on guys, flows arent that bad, I like drone :nice: Anyways, here's another vote for gears. I cant believe how low of mileage you found one with, I would almost be tempted to just leave it stock and go park it somewhere. Of course, I would get over that thought really quick though

I think I lost hp with my flows. J/K. It's all depends what you want out on the car I guess. These are the basic first mods. Like Black95GTS said the sky is the limit. Some people like the exotic sound some people like the old muscle sound. My car kind of has a mixture of both. How far are you planning to go with your mods? If I was you I would make a plan so you do end up having to buy the same part twice. I know where you are coming from about the money. I am 18 and in college.
