New Carpet, Can You Buy Without Padding?

Is there anywhere to buy new carpet without padding? Has anyone removed the padding with new carpet before installing? I'm looking for the lightest weight option for replacing carpet.

I'm not worried about noise. A pound here, 15lbs pound there... adds up to increase performance for sure.

Using the estimate of 100lbs=.1, on a street car a pound here and there doesn't really add up to increased performance. Even if somehow you make it to 100lbs, it's still only a tenth.
I speak as someone that has tried a bunch of weight loss ideas, all it does is turn your car into a worthless piece of unsellable junk that is loud uncomfortable and hard to drive (i'm talking about removing the ac, deleting the power steering and rear seat), essentially making it a race car.

What he said.

Worst part of removing junk is putting it all back in later.

Unless this is a dedicated track car, it's really not worth it and makes the cars value drop

It's a turbo ls1 notch <2800lbs. It's a race car. Weight reduction does work, it's physics(power to weight ratio). So does anyone have an actual answer where to buy carpet without padding or removing the padding for my loud, uncomfortable, worthless piece of junk? Or am I "wasting my time" listening to opinions that are irrelevant to the original post?

Look at that...swaps a GM engine into his Fox and he's already got a go f*** yourself attitude. I guess it goes hand in hand? Since you've already ruined it with an LS swap and "because racecar", why run carpet at all? You know....power to weight ratio and all that. Why not save that extra 10lbs. It's "physics" after all. :rlaugh:.

And for you answer. Nobody I know of sells it without the backing. Just buy the full carpet and cut the backing off.

I think it would have been easier if you had just replied to gearbangers first post by saying it was a race car. Then nobody else would have replied.
I assumed it was not, considering you didn't mention it when you had the chance.

Since it's a race car clearly stripped down to get to 2800lbs, why bother with a carpet at all?

I don't think any of those come without padding, i'm pretty sure they are factory style without the mass backing rubber which is an add on.

Correct. The base level carpets still have jute padding. The add on mass back is just extra sound insulation.

All LMRs choices are ACC carpet. I'd call ACC directly. Only way to find out if they will sell a non padded version
