New car parts are stupid money smh.

Let's see
Fox body has been around 35 years and most performance combos have been done 1000 times. Really no new R&D needed
Tons of used parts for sale

2017 Mustang is brand spanking new

If you were around back in 1987, there werent any performance parts for your Mustang. We were opening up stock Throttle bodies and making home made ram air intakes Guys were paying hundreds to extrune hone stock intakes. . Many guys were tearing off the EFI parts and insalling carbs because they couldnt :"tune" the new fangled SEFI or get any power from it

I’d vote to mod the one that’s outta warranty :D

I concur, but wife asked what do you for Christmas and I laughed when she said an exhaust.

Why bc its almost the entry price for the foxbody turbo kit.

How one can justify an exhaust but not the turbo is beyond me.....i mean i have jackstands

New cars are harder to modify anyway. Takes a copious amount of r&d just to improve on what the factory has already done a great job on.

I remember when I had my Infiniti one of the most popular mods was a Intake spacer that cost $400...for a copper 3/8" spacer. And it was probably one of the only worthwhile mods to do anyway.

Fox mods have gone up as well. I remember when AL driveshafts were $150, Cobra brake calipers, rotors and lines were $399, and many other mods were dirt cheap. Those days are gone.

New cars have their place. I'll admit I prefer newer cars and when my DDs are 8-10 years old it's time to kick them to the curb. I hate fixing stupid :poo: these days. Chasing squeak and clunks? I'd just rather get a new car and write a check and drive the thing vs fix it. Obviously I know how to swing a wrench, but any free time I have I'd rather not be changing bushings on a daily driver

Yep. Thats why I about :poo: when I saw an aluminum driveshaft for my fox was only $2XX. For my 2011, they were $799+.

Meh, my 2011 had 32,000 when I sold it last year. The Steeda CAI was one of my first mods, and their tune elimated my warranty at 11,000 miles and one year of age. Never had a problem with it though, and I beat on it constantly and wrecked it once. Those newer stangs are built to last, with the exception of some of the manual transmissions. Never had that problem in mine either though.

Well my post was just to highlight the fact a cheapish mod for our foxes is not so cheap for the S550.

A simple just get an exhaust is acceptable, but when i wanted to turbo the fox....noooo

Almost the same price in a round about way but apple to oranges I know.

I can understand,and relate lol.
I read not to long ago of a members trouble with a Brand new mustang sitting at the dealership for two weeks. After having it all of 3 days the transmission went nuts lol. So I guess I’m Leary of already expensive new cars needing painfully expensive repairs cause a 25-50HP Mod voided the warranty. :D

I understand what you are getting at. I’m sure they price will become reasonable eventually lol

I for sure had sticker shock when the axleback (aka just friggin mufflers) for the coyote were $700! The whole exhaust on the fox (shortys, h, and catback) didn't cost that.

I was looking at vortech kits for both- 7k coyote, 3k fox, same head unit. Wtf?

Gotta recoup that initial r&d cost plus capitalize on the market a bit. Price will drop...in 10-15 years.

If anything cheap (relatively speaking) pricing on fox mods might be part of the reason they are popular these days more than ever. I think I spend more on coffee per year than a vortech for a fox costs

The price comparison is a little off.
You are comparing one of the most high end stainless exhaust mid pipes and catbacks for a new car to literally the worst turbo kit turbo kit you can buy for an old car.

Compare the exhaust to a hellion kit and it's much more realistic.

Or compare the 2017 SVE exhaust to the turbo kit.

Either way comparing junk to high end is never going to be accurate.

I would have to disagree slightly. On3 has come a long way and yes Corsa is the high end but for the Performance Pack crowd we have to run their exhaust due to the annoying drone of SVE and all in the $600-1000 range with 373s. I did mention entry level turbo kit though.

I would never pay hellion money for anything other than a blower due to they have had similar fitment issues as On3, but they have better BOV/Wastegate/Turbo.

I would buy them (On3) just for plumbing and upgrade the rest.....but yes it was Apple to oranges.

Side note got a newish corsa for $750 from a guy around the corner who traded his in last night....still steep but a win is a win.
