Just got a new clutch because the old stock one was 1) STOCK!! and 2) was on its last legs...went with the spec stage 1 which is supposedly good for up to 420 pound feet of torque and since I have no plans for a blower or any kind of power adder that should be good...but I was told to keep it under 3k rpms for 1000 miles...however the manufacturer says 450 miles of stop and go traffic...but I think I will follow the 1000 mile one to be safe...but right after that I am gonna give it hell on the track :D :D :D who else got this clutch or any new clutch for that matter? what break in period did you follow?

spec stage one here.... I did the recommended break in. Put a little over 500 very easy miles (stop and go as well as freeway) on it before giving it real go juice. Mine still grabs strong but has a bit of chatter :( Nothing near the chatter it had when I 1st installed it, though. I say baby it for 500 or a bit more and you should be good.

I got the FRRP king cobra clutch...I put it in when I did the 5 spd swap.I'm just finishing up the 500 mile break in and still have a little chatter but nothing like when it was first installed.I still have some heavy chatter in reverse though. My throwout bearing is squeking like a b**ch also. :notnice:

god damn 1,000 mile break in   who the hell told you that? I have a SPEC II and I went a few hundred miles before I started to get on it hard and often. Its now got 10 trips down the track and works great. Do 450 if you want to be safe, not 1,000.

I put a SPEC Stage 2 in and it gave me a lot of hell. Took it all back apart and some how the disc had a chip in it????? Beats me? It ended up scorching the pressure plate so with the little bit of cash I had left I just bought a Ford HD clutch kit to get me back on the road. It's held up like about 5k so far. Feels like a stock clutch and rides OK still. TOB squeals here too. I let it go and it seemed to calm down a little bit, but it's still there, lol.
