Just got a new clutch because the old stock one was 1) STOCK!! and 2) was on its last legs...went with the spec stage 1 which is supposedly good for up to 420 pound feet of torque and since I have no plans for a blower or any kind of power adder that should be good...but I was told to keep it under 3k rpms for 1000 miles...however the manufacturer says 450 miles of stop and go traffic...but I think I will follow the 1000 mile one to be safe...but right after that I am gonna give it hell on the track who else got this clutch or any new clutch for that matter? what break in period did you follow?

spec stage one here.... I did the recommended break in. Put a little over 500 very easy miles (stop and go as well as freeway) on it before giving it real go juice. Mine still grabs strong but has a bit of chatter Nothing near the chatter it had when I 1st installed it, though. I say baby it for 500 or a bit more and you should be good.

god damn 1,000 mile break in who the hell told you that? I have a SPEC II and I went a few hundred miles before I started to get on it hard and often. Its now got 10 trips down the track and works great. Do 450 if you want to be safe, not 1,000.

Varied driving for 500 miles is what I would do. Just really try not to slip the clutch.

Good luck.

I put a SPEC Stage 2 in and it gave me a lot of hell. Took it all back apart and some how the disc had a chip in it????? Beats me? It ended up scorching the pressure plate so with the little bit of cash I had left I just bought a Ford HD clutch kit to get me back on the road. It's held up like about 5k so far. Feels like a stock clutch and rides OK still. TOB squeals here too. I let it go and it seemed to calm down a little bit, but it's still there, lol.

I have the SPEC III and did the 450 mile of stop and go driving. My best friend works there and that is what they reccommend with all their clutches.

SPEC clutch and I followed the 500 mile stop and go easy driving: 2500 RPM or less.
