new clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster probs...

ok i got my :uzi: quadrant installed with a firewall adjuster using the stock cable.... now the cable is tight with the FWA closed all the way, the pedal barely spins the tranny at the top of its travel...... should i stick on the adj cable that came with the kit....

what quadrant do you have. i found that i needed a triple hook quadrant to use a stock length cable. put it on the second hook and it works great. i got mine from upr. you could use the adjustable cable, but i i personally like the stock cables. my adjustable cable would never stay tight

what kit were you using??? based on your experience, an ecu's, I'm now thinking that some companies engineer their quadrants to be specifically used with the adjustable cables. That's complete bs.

Explain your adjustment to me...your clutch should NOT slip at all, and I'm almost doubting it's your adjustment.

V8- if you had a FWA, or a adjustable cable, wouldn't the adjustability of cable slack be equal, if not greater with the FWA? Just thinking about mine, the adjustability would have to be at least an inch and a half or so. Maybe the clutch cable is routed differently? If you used the stock original clutch, with the amount of stretch the cable goes through, there should be no way the cable is too short with the FWA all the way in.

wow, im not sure what order the posts were actually made in. LOL. BMJ, if you were not completely disengaging the clutch all the way (what happens when the clutch engages right off the floor), i dont see how your clutch would have been adversely affected. you would just have had, perhaps, some rough shifting (depending how close to the floor the POE really was).

it is the other extreme from slipping, so you might be alright.

for the slipping, did you leave some freeplay in the cable? while i know V8 et al, like to dial in preload, having slack in it for now tells you that you are not slipping one bit from preloading the cable - if it slips, it should be all clutch hardware in the bellhousing (not the quadrant, cable, etc).

my ramblings. good luck.
